Speak Up Newport - Mayor's Dinner

Fortieth Annual Mayor's Dinner - 2022

The 40th Annual Mayor’s Dinner, featuring the 2022 Mayor Kevin Muldoon, who will deliver the State of the City Address, originally scheduled for February 10th has been postponed, due to COVID protocols, until April or May 2022 at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa.

The evening’s Master of Ceremonies will be KCAL 9 and CBS 2 Orange County reporter and Newport Beach resident Michele Gile.

The event will include a special recognition of the City’s past mayors.

For 39 years, each February, the Speak Up Newport (SUN) Board of Directors presents the Annual Mayor's Dinner, which is attended by more than 450 Newport Beach business and community leaders. It is also covered by the local press and videotaped and replayed several times on local Newport Beach cable channels.

The event allows attendees to renew old friendships, establish new relationships and visit with local dignitaries. The Newport Beach Mayor is traditionally selected at the December City Council Meeting.

The annual event’s dinner in 2021 was cancelled due to COVID protocols.

Speak Up Newport President Edward Selich announced today that the Fortieth Annual Mayor’s Dinner has been postponed due to COVID.

With the state mask mandate being extended to February 15th and the current situation with the Omicron variant the Speak Up Newport Board of Directors decided to postpone the dinner to the earliest possible date in April or May. The Speak Up Newport Mayor’s Dinner Website will have updates on the rescheduled dinner. Speak Up Newport will also have future public announcements on the new date. Please check the Mayor’s Dinner Website to stay updated on the new date.

The Speak Up Newport Board felt it was important to continue the tradition of the Mayor’s Dinner and not cancel it again this year. Last year there was no choice. This year it is hoped the Omicron variant will subside by April or May.

Even though the dinner will be later than normal all the traditional elements of the dinner will remain as in past years, including Mayor Kevin Muldoon giving a State of the City Address.

Please continue to purchase tickets and underwriter's tables.
